How Often Should You Get a Massage?
This is a common question that I get from massage clients. Typically receiving a massage every single day will do no harm! Isn't that what we all wish we can get after a long, hard day? However, realistically speaking this may not be possible for the average person. This article will help in highlighting the deciding factors that will determine how often you should get a massage.
- If you suffer from chronic pain, twice a week or once weekly will be ideal in order to help alleviate symptoms.
- Are you a gym lover or do you exercise regularly? Do you love a highly stressful life? If so, then weekly massages or a massage twice monthly will be best.
After you have started to feel better and your symptoms have alleviated, meaning your muscles are no longer tight, stress symptoms and overall wellbeing have been improved and pain symptom has been reduced, you can then receive massages once a month for maintenance purposes increasing the frequency when you feel like you need it. However, if you are working with a tight budget, getting a massage AT LEAST once a month can still be somewhat helpful (although not ideal in the above cases.)
Massage is like exercise. In order to reap the full rewards which include pain and stress management, keeping the muscles pliable by reducing muscular tension among so many other benefits, stretching out your sessions too far apart will not deliver substantial results. This is why massage packages were also created to make multiple sessions a month more budget friendly and feasible. You can learn more about these packages by visiting the "Services" tab.
Overall, consistency is key to getting the most out of your massage sessions...unless you're one of those that just like to treat yourself every once in a while. Either way the point is figuring out what works best for you based on your existing situations and symptoms.
